A new community garden was opened on September 11, 2010 in Sydney's Northen Beaches area at Manly Vale. (photos) The Manly Vale Community Garden Inc Committee (MVCGI) believes the garden will foster a sense of belonging and a sense of place, enhancing social ties and relationships and thereby vitalise and enrich our community.
Our Vision
Our long term vision is for the community garden to become a happy, enjoyable meeting place for the local community where shared ideas of organic food growing, food preparation and eating become the norm. Where education, peer learning and sustainable use of the allocated land space as a valuable food resource is shared with the wider community.
Our Aims
To work collaboratively with the community, government, and businesses to establish a network of people and organisations that will facilitate the establishment and on-going support of the Manly Vale Community Garden and to make it a successful social activity for the local community.
Our Objectives
To create a unique safe and supportive garden within the suburb of Manly Vale for all the community. It will promote a sense of community where trust, effort, knowledge, skills and responsibility are shared, where creativity and the
environment are nurtured, and where philanthropy can flourish.
